Unlike the other rocking horse plans we offer, this toddlers’ horse requires no carving, which makes it just right for a beginner. It could be given as a present to a small child by someone intending to make a fully carved larger horse later on, so that the child will be familiar to the idea of a rocking horse, while giving the maker time to make one to a more elaborate design. Toddlers enjoy their horse so much that it is very rarely out of use, so it must be constructed sturdily, which is the case with this design. It is also very easily and quickly made with the minimum number of tools.
This horse would suit a toddler from about one-and-a-half years old, or when they are quite steady on their feet, and will probably last about two or more years. It requires approximately 10 hours to make plus the time needed for the paint to dry.
